To commemorate Kou Shibusawa's 35th anniversary, the "Kou Shibusawa Archives" will be opened in the Steam Store. Here we will revive popular previously released titles. In this ninth round of releases, we offer "Romance of the Three Kingdoms Ⅸ with Power Up Kit," an expanded version of the 9th game in the series. RTK Ⅸ is a strategy based simulation game based in China's chaotic Three Kingdoms period. Players portray a Daimyo and lead their clan in an attempt to unify the entire land of Japan. For the first time in the series, the game uses a single large map and brings together battle and strategy in an entirely new way. Players give their officers "Strategies" and those officers work to carry them out in real-time. Players can also set up facilities and obstacles on the battlefield to aid them. Officers can learn tactics and employ them in a strategic battle like none before.
Description from IGDB IGDB
The ninth release in KOEI's Romance of the Three Kingdoms series casts players as rising rulers in ancient China and challenges them to unite the land under their rule. Following the basic design of earlier titles, players develop and manage large armies as they maneuver across the wide countryside, using both military force and diplomatic finesse to win territory and followers. The hard-core strategy framework is fleshed out with a variety of mission types, branching storylines, and an embellished adherence to the actual history and culture of the setting. Features in this edition include the ability to manage both political and military aspects of the empire, at the same time, allowing players to continue to negotiate while their troops are in battle. While this version of the game resumes the limitation that player characters must be of the Ruler class, officer development has been revised to allow greater control in developing followers. KOEI fans who also play Dynasty Warriors 4 and Dynasty Tactics 2 can use their save files to unlock a powerful, exclusive officer character. More than two-dozen Challenge scenarios, including 15 historical battles Use diplomacy and military might at the same time or shift strategies when appropriate More than 30 different tactics involving 12 military formations
Wikipedia Description WIKIPEDIA
The game is set in the Three Kingdoms period in China and is based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Unlike its two immediate predecessors, Sangokushi IX always casts the player as a ruler. The player's goal is to bring every city on the map under his or her command; this is achieved by hiring other historical figures from the book, referred to as officers, and using them to cultivate cities, recruit armies, and fight or plot against enemy forces. The game comprises 15 historical scenarios, 5 challenge scenarios, and 5 "if" scenarios; each with the possibility of having multiple story endings based on the gameplay. With the Officer Development System points can be spent to increase officer abilities and skills as well as the option of gifting special items to raise officer stats. Game map outlines all the important capitals, ports, forts, troop movements, geography, and enemy strongholds. Personality Dependent System affects an officer's adherence to your commands or their decision making skills in battle. There are 30 different march formations to choose from when deploying troops or combat units. Through the Command Menu players can employ various war, political, or economic strategies. Players may use save data from Dynasty Warriors 4, Dynasty Warriors 4 Xtreme Legends, or Dynasty Tactics 2 to obtain new officers for the PlayStation 2 version. Up to 8 players can play on turn-based plays.
