Description from Steam STEAM

In the world of Spirit Blade, you are no chosen one—just a shadow struggling among the common folk.
As empires clash and chaos reigns, ordinary lives are treated as mere straw—some are forced into service, some become outlaws in the hills, while others rise to resist this unjust world. There is no clear right or wrong, only ordinary people caught in the currents of a turbulent era, each searching for their own path in the cracks of fate.
You will step into this perilous world and become “yourself.”
What begins as a quest for the truth draws you step by step into a deeper conspiracy.
Every choice you make could be a turning point—or your downfall.

▌ Core Gameplay: 2D Side-Scrolling Levels · Strategy Is the Key to Victory
Set against the backdrop of the war-torn land of Shu in the late Ming Dynasty, embark on an immersive journey of hardcore 2D side-scrolling challenges. Each level boasts meticulously crafted unique terrain and distinctive level mechanics, completely discarding the mindless brute-force playstyle. Only by making full use of battlefield strategies, mastering precise controls, and above all, taking the core Shift Dash mechanic as the key to breaking deadlocks — using its extreme maneuverability to evade mortal dangers, seize the initiative in offense and defense, and break free from terrain constraints — can you shatter all obstacles in your path and charge forward with all your might toward the ultimate secret realm!
▌ Resource Collection: Foundation of Combat Power · Accumulate on Demand
Core resources are scattered all along your level-clearing journey — Soul Crystals can be exchanged for hidden items, while gold coins can purchase functional props. The distribution of these resources holds hidden secrets; some can only be obtained by breaking through terrain restrictions and solving environmental puzzles. Rationally plan your collection routes to lay a solid foundation for subsequent tough challenges!
▌ BOSS Raids: Exploit Weaknesses · Subdue Foes with Precision
Every boss boasts a unique attack pattern and core weakness. You must observe its movement cadence and skill trajectories to pinpoint vulnerabilities — whether by shattering its weak defensive spots, launching surprise strikes during its charge windows, or triggering weakness-induced staggers with specific items. There are no fixed strategies for victory; only by mastering the boss’s mechanics can you prevail with wit and avoid futile brute-force attempts.
▌Terrain & Items: Utilize the Environment · Turn Peril into Safety
Level terrain is both an obstacle and an advantage: high platforms can be used to flank and pin down enemies, mountain passes can compress the enemy’s attack range, and dynamic hazards such as quicksand and falling rocks can be turned against pursuers. Pair these with a vast array of functional items — explosives to destroy barriers, cover items to temporarily evade damage, and boost potions to enhance combat power for a short time. Combine terrain and items in tandem to unlock diverse clearance strategies and handle all kinds of unexpected battle scenarios.
Beyond that, Soulblade: Dawnbreaker also features Soul Shrines (mystical sanctuaries hidden in mountains and rivers), dynamic day-night cycles and celestial phenomena, hidden caches of Spirit Runes scattered across the world, and spirit beasts and celestial companions that fight alongside you…
All of this awaits you to step into this wuxia world personally, and write your own story — Blade Shadows of a Floating Life.

Description from IGDB IGDB
For centuries the essence of Quaal, once a powerful and terrible demon, has been trapped inside the sword that once killed him. After a volcanic eruption, however, the blade is stolen by one of Quaal's dark servants intent upon reviving their lord. Four heroes are called upon to retrieve the blade before it's too late. Blade is a turn-based role playing game played from an isometric perspective. However its control scheme is more similar to turn-based tactical games of the time like X-COM, in that each turn is strictly divided into a player phase and an enemy phase, and each character has a limited amount of action points per turn. There is no character creation but the four heroes can be picked from a range of eight, each of a particular class. There is a form of economy as the party starts with a limited sum of gold which can be deposited in a bank and used to purchase equipment. Combat is extremely simplistic, as the player only selects the monster that will be automatically attacked if within range.
