To define it, we can use the Real Time with Pause (RTwP) system that we see in real time games. However, Smart Pause is more advanced than RTwP and aims to increase the player's sense of control in a 'real-time' game. With SPG, the game is automatically 'paused' according to the player's reactions and what they want to do, allowing the player to easily make tactical decisions. This allows the player to plan and give orders while the action is still going on, without having to constantly press the pause button or without uncomfortable pauses caused by predetermined and repetitive events.
