Descend into the cursed expanse known as Anathema, a forest once conquered by a vanished empire whose dominion stretched across all lands—and then collapsed without a trace. Their power came from forbidden relics, but centuries later, no one remembers their downfall… except for the monstrous wraiths that still cling to ruins buried under tangled roots. Your kingdom—once unified—now fractures into rival factions, each seeing Anathema as the final key to absolute power.

The realm’s factions are born from its ruling elites: arcane scholars, noble houses, and devout orders. Though different in methods, all share one ambition: to rise from decay and claim sole supremacy. During each crisis, they maneuver through intrigue and military force, each believing their vision of the kingdom’s rebirth must outpace the others.
You lead one such faction, using cards to summon your champions, construct fortifications, and call on ancient magics. As you delve deeper into Anathema, you realize the stakes extend beyond survival—they are a desperate gamble for destiny.

Beyond human ambition lie insidious threats:
As bodies fall in Anathema, they reanimate into grotesque, fast-growing creatures. Most flee, but there are some who worship them as kin—they embrace the transformations and live among the aberrations in horrifying communion.
On other places of Anathema, elf, orc, and troll survivors who have been ostracized by civilization band together. Far from noble woodsmen, these elves are ruthless predators, and their orc and troll allies are brutal warriors. United in purpose, they seek to claim Anathema’s relics for themselves and reclaim agency from the world that rejected them.
A third clandestine faction stirs within the forest’s shadows—its nature yet unknown, but the rumor of its presence hints at forces even the others will fear.
